Terms of Service

Last updated: December 9 2025

Welcome to Chess It Up

By using Chess It Up, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use our service.

What We Provide

Chess It Up is a free online tool that analyzes chess games using the Stockfish chess engine. You can import games from Chess.com, Lichess, or paste PGN notation directly. We provide move-by-move analysis, move grading, and suggestions for improvement.

Service "As Is"

Chess It Up is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we strive for accuracy:

  • Analysis results are generated by computer algorithms and may not always be perfect
  • Move grades are approximations based on engine evaluation
  • We do not guarantee the service will always be available or error-free
  • Analysis should be used for learning purposes, not as definitive chess judgment

Your Responsibilities

When using Chess It Up, you agree to:

  • Only analyze games you have the right to analyze (your own games or public games)
  • Not use our service to cheat in online chess games
  • Not attempt to overload or abuse our service
  • Comply with the terms of service of Chess.com and Lichess when importing games

Anti-Cheating Statement

Chess It Up is designed for post-game analysis and learning. Using computer analysis during live games is cheating and violates the terms of service of online chess platforms. We do not condone or support cheating in any form.

Third-Party Content

When you import games from Chess.com or Lichess, you're accessing data from those platforms. We are not affiliated with Chess.com or Lichess. Your use of their data is subject to their respective terms of service.

Intellectual Property

The Chess It Up website, design, and original code are our property. The Stockfish chess engine is open source software under the GPL license. Chess game data belongs to the respective players and platforms.

Limitation of Liability

Chess It Up and its creators shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the service. This includes but is not limited to: losses in chess games, incorrect analysis, or service unavailability.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Chess It Up after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
